Compression

TileDB achieves effective compression via its columnar format.

As described in Columnar Storage, TileDB physically stores its data on a per-field basis. This leads to excellent compression, since values of the same type and with potentially high similarity are clustered together, which helps the compressor be more effective. TileDB has a variety of compression and encoding filters available. For more information, refer to the Arrays: Compression section.
